​Protection from Adders, snakes and everything....
 
 
​I can grow really quickly, sometimes 45 centimetres in one year! My brothers have early yellow catkins that have great pollen for the bees.
According to the brother Grimm I provide protection against adders, snakes and everything but more usually my branches are used for walking sticks and garden stakes.
In Autumn I provide pale green cobnuts held in a lacy Elizabethan ruff and in olden times the Celts believed my nuts were food for the brain.
